A quarterly brief from JOHCM and Regnan
What a year we experienced in 2022. Across the globe we saw challenging market conditions, a massive increase in inflation, political uncertainty within multiple countries and the rise of geopolitical tensions particularly in Europe and Asia. In this piece we offer insights from both a macro and micro perspective featuring observations from our fund managers covering global developed markets (Chris Lees, Nudgem Richyal and Ben Leyland) and the emerging markets (James Syme, Paul Wimborne, Ada Chan, Emery Brewer, Ivo St Kovachev). We also offer specific thoughts on two of the most compelling areas for future investment, ever-changing Asia (Samir Mehta) and the undervalued UK (Clive Beagles, James Lowen, Alex Savvides).
We are also pleased to be a founding member of the Diversity Project’s Pathway Programme. This project focusses on developing female portfolio management talent throughout our industry. Our colleagues Stephanie Geary (UK Dynamic analyst) and Maxine Wille (Global Impact analyst) are taking part in the programme. Andrew Parry (Head of Investments) and Ada Chan (EM Opportunities PM) have volunteered as internal sponsors.
